Reception for students of the UNSA Faculty of Law on the occasion of historic success at the most prestigious international human rights competition
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj received today at the Rectorate Faculty of Law students: Emina Kukuljac, Delila Islamović, Lamija Dedagić and Anes Karaman, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Zinka Grbo and associate Mr. Sc. Harun Išerić.
The reason for the admission was the historical success of these four students who recently achieved in the most prestigious international competition “8 trans-European human rights competition “
On this occasion, Rector Škrijelj congratulated the students on their success, emphasizing that their extraordinary result is also the success of the Faculty of Law, UNSA, University of Sarajevo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pointing out the importance and magnitude of their victory, Rector Škrijelj pointed out that this success shows that the University of Sarajevo educates part-time students, but also that it has extremely high-quality teaching staff dedicated to students and their activities.
This competition has been organized by the non-governmental organization Civil Rights Defenders for eight years, and the competition brings together the winners of two regional competitions: the Scandinavian and the Western Balkans. In this year's Competition, the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Law of Copenhagen met.
The winners of the competition - four students of the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, pointed out that this is an exceptional success for them, and that they want to motivate fellow students to apply for such and similar competitions and achieve success that will mean a lot to them in their future lives and career.
“We are glad that we have united in this way, that we have developed new friendships and acquaintances from the region and Europe and thus gained new experiences,” said students of the UNSA Faculty of Law, adding: “After nine months of intensive work and preparation. , the victory we have achieved brings satisfaction and is a confirmation that after the effort and work there is a reward. We are glad that we presented and promoted Bosnia and Herzegovina, the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo in the best light. “
Dean of the UNSA Faculty of Law prof. dr. Zinka Grbo emphasized that extracurricular activities, such as student competitions, enable the development of additional and special knowledge and skills of students, and provide employers with the opportunity to recruit future employees. She also stressed that this achieves greater visibility and recognition of the University of Sarajevo as a center of excellence.
Referring to the continuous work with students, the senior associate Mr. Sc. Harun Išerić stated that for the first time, the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo had the opportunity to participate in this competition, and for the first time it achieved the best success by winning first place. “Our team consisted of four students who, through their research work, demonstrated that they can compete with colleagues from the best European universities,” said M.Sc. Harun Išerić.
The competition was held in English, in the courtroom of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The Judicial Council consisted of: Arnfinn Bardsen, Judge on behalf of the Kingdom of Norway, Tim Eicke, Judge on behalf of the United Kingdom and Faris Vehabović, Judge on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The achieved success testifies to the excellence and prestige of the Faculty of Law of the University of Sarajevo in the education of future lawyers.
