Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija received the award for outstanding academic achievements at the University of Beijing
On 27 June 2019, the Institute for New Markets (EMI), Beijing Normal University awarded Prof. Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija with Award for outstanding academic achievements and contribution in the academic year 2018/2019, as the only professor of this generation of postgraduates from 34 countries from 4 continents.
In Beijing, in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Institute of China, the seventeenth Meeting on High Level Sustainable Development at the Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) “China's Development and Opportunity for the World” was held from 24 to 27 June 2019.
Dr. Zlatko Lagumdžija, as a member of the NGIC Governing Board and introductory speaker at the “Self-sustainable development” session, focused on the role of self-sustainable development objectives as a transformer of social change with a particular shift to the challenges facing the regions and developing countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Western Balkans.
The future of the European Union depends to a large extent on the enlargement pace at the remaining 6 Western Balkans countries, as well as on accelerated development based on interconnectedness, infrastructural as well as projects based on high technologies and networking of research and educational institutions.
At a meeting with Vice President of China Wang Qishan, during the NGIC leaders' discussion on current geostrategic issues and lessons from history and reform, Dr. Lagumdžija pointed to the importance of a country such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and the value of his visit to Sarajevo as a symbol of the world's major milestones and the challenges that we all share together.
On the personal invitation of Dean Hu Biliang and students of fifth generation postgraduate studies for developing countries at the Institute for New Markets (EMI Beijing Normal University, Dr. Lagumdžija gave a lecture on Leadership for Self-sustainable Development at the final ceremony and the award of Master's degrees in this prestigious program.
