Presented EUPeace Alliance | European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies
The University of Sarajevo is part of the European university initiative called EUPeace (European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies), and on that occasion, today was the occasion to present this alliance to the members of the academic community of the University of Sarajevo.
Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš, UNSA Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the University of Sarajevo and academic coordinator of the EUPeace Alliance presented the Alliance, partners, work packages and ways in which faculty members could contribute to the Alliance’s mission.
It was emphasized that the EUPeace Alliance is particularly focused on increasing the effects of internationalization under the prefix of nurturing a peaceful, just and inclusive European society, at different levels.
“In this way, the University of Sarajevo continues the long-standing tradition of inter-university cooperation for the development of a culture of dialogue and the promotion of peace” Vice-Rector Nakaš pointed out.
The EUPeace alliance consists of nine European universities: University of Marburg (Germany) - coordinator, Comillas Ponteficia University of Madrid (Spain), Çukurova University of Adana (Turkey), University of Giessen (Germany), University of Calabria (Italy), University of Limoges (France), University of Mostar (BiH), University of Sarajevo (BiH), University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic).
The EUPeace Alliance is committed to fostering a culture of peace and creating the foundations for a prosperous society through education, research and outreach. The central concepts defined in this context are peace, justice and an inclusive society.
The activities will take place through eight work packages that include:
Project management, coordination, quality and structure monitoring; Curriculum transformation, Internationalization of teacher education, Strengthening mobility; Campus and student life; Research hubs and doctoral studies; Social dialogue; Impact and dissemination.
Working with the EUPeace Alliance goes beyond professional engagement; serves as a catalyst for personal growth on multiple fronts. From cultivating a global perspective and honing leadership skills to fostering community engagement and social responsibility, experiences within the alliance contribute to the development of individuals as active global citizens. As individuals contribute to the alliance's mission, they, in turn, find themselves on a path of profound personal growth.
At today's presentation of the alliance, another significant event organized within the EUPeace alliance was announced: the EUPeace Academic Networking Event, which will be held on 13 February 2024 at 13:00 in an online format. The goal of this event is to connect researchers from institutions within the Alliance.
