Overture to the finale of the 17th May Music Festival: A concert was held by the Choir of the UNSA Academy of Music
As a prelude to the finale of the 17th edition of the May Music Festival, in the church of St. Ante in Bistrik on 11 May 2024, a concert was held by the Choir of the Academy of Music of the University of Sarajevo (MAS UNSA), which performed with soloists under the conductorship of Emanuel Josić, a professional associate at the MAS Conducting Department.
The program, which was prepared under the mentorship of subject professor Jasenka Ostojić, opened with the composition A Ceremony of Carols op. 28 for women's choir and harpB. Britten performed by the MAS women's choir and soloist soprano Jovana Pavlović and mezzo-soprano Hanadi Karić, a student of the Department of Solo Singing MAS in the class of Prof. Vedrana Šimić, and Diana Grubišić Ćiković, eminent harpists and professors at the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb, who subsequently interpreted R. Glière's Imromptu and M. Tournier's Au matin.
The repertoire also included Jesus bleibet meine Freude from the cantata BWV 147 by J. S. Bach, and then Sure on This Shining Night by S. Barber, Ballade to the Moon from Three Nocturnes for choir and piano by D. Elder, performed with the choir by pianist Iva Lazić, student of the Department of Piano, Harp, Percussion and Related Instruments in the class ofPprof. Dragan Opančić, while percussionist Emili Mišić, a student of the Department of Harp, Percussion and Related Instruments in the class of Prof. Davor Maraus.
The concert is rounded off with the song Kad igra kolo from the Wedding Song cycle by B. Papandopulo.
