Official cooperation of Faculties of Political Sciences and Administration, University of Sarajevo with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Public Policy of the Mara University of Technology in Malaysia
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Academic, Cultural and Scientific Cooperation, Friendly Relations and Staff Exchange between the Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Administration of the University of Sarajevo with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Public Policy of the University of Technology Mara (UITM) in Malaysia 2022 in the University of Sarajevo Rectorate.
The memorandum was signed by Dean of the Faculty of Administration - Associate Member of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Emir Tahirović, Vice Dean for International Cooperation of the Faculty of Political Sciences UNSA, Prof. Dr. Sanela Bašić and Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Public Policy of the Mara University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Nor Hafizah Mohamed Harith, in the presence of the University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and the President of the Mara University of Technology Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato 'Seri dr. Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. dr. Enita Nakaš, and vice-deans, professors and associates of the Faculty of Administration and Policy of the Mara University of Technology.
The signed Memorandum of Understanding envisages the establishment of cooperation through networking and mutual exchange of teachers and non-teaching staff for lectures, visits and exchange of experiences, student exchange, and joint organization of conferences, symposia, congresses, seminars, and courses.
“The Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo is extremely happy to expand its cooperation beyond the European context. This will be the first time that we cooperate with a Malaysian faculty in the field of international relations” said Vice Dean Bašić.
Dean Tahirović emphasized that this faculty has great aspirations for cooperation with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Public Policy of the Mara University of Technology, and expressed hope that this Memorandum will be realized.
A memorandum of understanding between the Mara University of Technology in Malaysia and the University of Sarajevo was signed in 2019, and during the meeting it was discussed to extend it, but also to intensify cooperation in education, training, student exchange and academic staff and international relations.
Mara University of Technology (UITM) is a renowned university that excels in research and international cooperation, as stated by the President of Mara University of Technology, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato 'Seri Dr. Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah, and stressed that the UITM is the largest state university in Malaysia, founded in 1956.
Rector Rifat Škrijelj pointed out that the University of Sarajevo is an established university that works on strengthening its scientific research capacities and developing international cooperation. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the faculties of these two universities, as stated by Rector Škrijelj, represents a step towards future forms of cooperation in various fields and opens opportunities to increase mobility of students and professors of both universities so they can gain new knowledge and exchange experiences.
It was concluded that everyone will actively work on the implementation of the signed memoranda of understanding, and the possibility of cooperation in the field of tourism and catering was considered, which is the area in which Mara University of Technology ranks fourth in Asia.
