Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović, with her associates, visited the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine

During the visit of the delegations of the Ministry, she was warmly received by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Amina Valjevac and her associates. Dean Valjevac to Minister Mesihović, briefly presented a rich history and exceptional importance to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo. She pointed out that this Faculty was the first medical school in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose action was crucial for the establishment of other medical faculties in the country.

It was particularly emphasized that the UNSA Faculty of Medicine was a pioneer in the introduction of medical studies in English in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main mission and goal of the Faculty is to provide and study programs aligned with country study plans in the region and beyond, and to respect the standards and directives of the European Union and the Council of Europe for regulated professions.

Representatives of the Ministry had the opportunity to get to know the results of large investments in the scientific and infrastructure projects of the Faculty of Medicine. Current and future scientific projects have also been presented, which will result in numerous scientific and professional publications, books and practices. These projects are expected to make a significant contribution to the quotations of the Faculty of Medicine and the affirmation of doctors and scientific workers dating from this faculty, both at European and global universities and clinics.

“The visit to the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine was extremely inspiring and informative. The faculty can be proud of its rich history, as well as many innovations in the field of higher education and scientific research. It is important to emphasize the Faculty's commitment to improving study programs in accordance with European standards. The Ministry's cooperation with the UNSA School of Medicine will certainly result in new innovations and improvements in the field of medical science. I look forward to intensifying future cooperation and joint projects in our Canton” said Minister Mesihović.

Through a successful visit, the Ministry and the UNSA Faculty of Medicine reaffirmed their commitment to improving higher education and scientific research in the canton of Sarajevo and beyond.
