Lecture and Workshop by Professor Zlatan Filipović at the UNSA Academy of Fine Arts, UNSA
On 8 January students from the third year of the Painting Department at the UNSA Academy of Fine Arts, under the tutelage of Full Professor Amer Bakšić, along with second and fourth-year students instructed by Associate Professor Natalija Salihović, and first-year students in the class of Assistant Professor Adi Karaila, attended a lecture and workshop conducted by Professor Zlatan Filipović (www.zlatanfilipovic.com), an Associate Professor of Art and Design at the American University in Sharjah. Professor Filipović, whose interests lie in film, video, and animation in both linear and interactive environments, as well as in art and design pedagogy, generously shared his extensive knowledge and experience with the students.
Professor Filipović boasts a rich academic and artistic career. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo and earned his Master's degree in Electronic Integrated Arts from NYSCC Alfred University. His artistic practice encompasses numerous solo and group exhibitions at prestigious venues such as Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt, Almine Rech Gallery in Paris, the European Media Art Festival in Osnabrück, as well as the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sharjah Art Museum.
During the lecture and workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts, Professor Filipović introduced innovative applications of VR technologies in contemporary painting. The practical segment of the workshop allowed students to explore the potential of these technologies and gain fresh insights into the possibilities of merging traditional artistic techniques with cutting-edge technological advancements.
“My impression is that I succeeded in opening new perspectives and horizons for these young students, and I hope they will continue their explorations to enrich their artistic expression and interrogate contemporary technologies within the broader context of modern painting,” Professor Filipović remarked.
This lecture and workshop significantly enriched the curriculum of the Painting Department, providing students with the opportunity to expand their skills and understanding of contemporary artistic practices.
