Delegation of the Capital Normal University from Beijing visits the University of Sarajevo
The University of Sarajevo fosters cooperation with many higher education institutions around the world through various programs, projects, associations, as well as through bilateral cooperation. On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, the University of Sarajevo was visited by a delegation from the Capital Normal University in Beijing which have met with the Rector prof. dr. Rifat Škrijelj, vice-rectors and representatives of the Board for International Relations, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Sport and Physical Education.
Rector Škrijelj warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of promoting and strengthening inter-university cooperation, with a special emphasis on successful cooperation between PR of China and B&H in the field of higher education and research. He also mentioned important events such as the visit of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the University of Sarajevo, the participation of the University in two significant events in the field of higher education organized within the framework of the international platform for cooperation between the People's Republic of China and Central and Eastern European countries, known as the „16+1 Mechanism" – under One Belt - One Road Initiative, the establishment of the Confucius Institute of the University of Sarajevo, the planned establishment of the Department of the Chinese Language at the Faculty of Philosophy, and many others.
The delegation of the Capital Normal University included Ms. Wang Qun, Vice-dean to the Postgraduate Studies, Ms. Bai Xiangning, Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Studies Office, and Mr. Liu Xu from the International Cooperation Office. They stated that the Capital Normal University in Beijing is a renowned higher education institution in the People's Republic of China and one of the best Chinese universities. Within the University there are 30 faculties, schools, colleges and departments, and 24 research institutes. In addition to 57 elementary study programs, the University offers 162 master programs, 100 doctoral programs and 18 postdoctoral positions. More than 36,000 students are studying at the University, of which almost two thousand are foreign students.
In addition to the presentation of the work and development of the Capital Normal University and the University of Sarajevo, the meeting was used to discuss the possibilities of intensifying cooperation, as well about the programs that are available to support closer cooperation – staff mobility, summer schools, and student mobility. There is a mutual interest in continuing and improving the successful cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Capital Normal University.
During their visit in Sarajevo, representatives of the Capital Normal University visited the University of Sarajevo’s Campus, the Confucius Institute and the Faculty of Philosophy.
