Cooperation between UNICEF and the University of Sarajevo on projects promoting the rights of children in BiH, social protection and inclusion, and inclusive education
Ms. Geeta Narayan, UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector signed an Agreement on Cooperation in projects: “Higher Education - Education for All” and “TRAIN + UPS !: Strengthening Pedagogical Competencies for Inclusive Academic Staff Training at the University of Sarajevo.”
Projects include: training of students, training of academic staff, creation of a database of students, acquisition of didactic resources, creation of promotional materials and dissemination activities, and will enable networking of all subjects involved in the teaching process of higher education, and improvement of inclusive practices.
The signed Agreement includes activities with the Office for Student Support at the University of Sarajevo on the project within which the University of Sarajevo and the University of East Sarajevo jointly undertake the assessment and creation of a database of students with disabilities, and organize training for academic staff on inclusive education as well as workshops to develop skills for students.
Ms. Geeta Narayan pointed out that UNICEF has been working on inclusive education for a long time with a focus on capacity development and system strengthening to support all schools and all students within the education system, which was mainly done through teacher training and through work with schools.
