Collective Agreement for Higher Education and Science at the University of Sarajevo Presented
From 1 January 2019, the salaries of employees at the University of Sarajevo will be increased on the basis of the Collective Agreement on Higher Education and Science at the University of Sarajevo, which was yesterday signed by Adem Zolj, Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton and Prof. Dr. Jasmin Velagić, President of the Union of the University of Sarajevo.
The contents of the collective agreement for higher education and science at the University of Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton support and future plans, were presented at a press conference held on Tuesday, 2 October 2018 at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate. The press conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Elvir Kazazović, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Mr. Sifet Kukuruz, Assistant Minister for Education, Teaching and Youth of Canton Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Vice Rectors, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Velagić, President of the Union of University of Sarajevo and members of the UNSA Union Central Committee.
Minister Kazazović expressed his pleasure for taking this great step for higher education and the University of Sarajevo emphasizing that the Collective Agreement signing solved a great – ensuring security for all employees of the University of Sarajevo. In his musings on the difficulties surrounding the adoption of the Law on Higher Education, Minister Kazazović said that in the future it the changes are certain, but its adoption is a prerequisite for reform and that the University of Sarajevo has the opportunity to function independently.
At the press conference, Rector Škrijelj also presented the University's plans for the upcoming period, including the completion of existing building projects, continuous renewal, institutional re-accreditation of the University, accreditation of study programs, introduction of English language study programs, adoption of the Statute and harmonization of the Rules of Procedure and Rulebook on Internal organization and Systematization of Jobs with the Collective Agreement.
