The book ZATOČENE: Žene u zatvorskom sustavu Bosne i Hercegovine 1878-1914 by Prof. Dr. Amila Kasumović Published

The Center for Historical Research (CeHIS) of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo published the book ZATOČENE: Žene u zatvorskom sustavu Bosne i Hercegovine 1878-1914 by prof. dr. Amila Kasumović, associate professor at the Department of History of the Faculty of Philosophy. The author Kasumović analyzes the treatment of the most vulnerable category within the prison population in the crucial years of Bosnian history, when society was going through transformation processes caused by modernization and industrialization. Austro-Hungary announced the modernization of the prison system and the implementation of modern penological practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the 1878 occupation. The author tries to show that the Austro-Hungarian administration mainly thought about prisoners, while women prisoners were mostly left out of the announced changes.
