The 3rd International Congress of Green Biotechnology officially opened
The 3rd International Congress of Green Biotechnology will be held in Sarajevo from 30 September to 2 October 2021, which will host over 70 experts in this field. This prestigious scientific-professional international thematic conference this year is organized by the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (INGEB) of the University of Sarajevo.
The field of green biotechnology deals with the application of knowledge in the field of biology and biotechnology in solving global challenges in environmentally friendly production of food, medicine, energy and environmental protection.
Addresses by Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Kasim Bajrović, Organizing Committee President and Prof. Dr. Lejla Pojskić, Congress Scientific Committee Chair opened the congress.
Rector, Prof. Dr. Škrijelj pointed out that the importance of such a gathering is reflected in the fact that he gathered over 70 eminent names in this field, who have an international reputation.
Prof. Dr. Bajrović reminded that after the 2nd Congress organized in Istanbul by Marmara University in 2019, the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the University of Sarajevo was given the privilege to organize the 3rd Congress
Speaking about why green biotechnology is important today, Prof. Dr. Pojskić explained that the answers to the main challenges of today are namely the production of healthy and safe food, environmental protection, production of environmentally friendly forms of fuel, sustainable waste management and production of new materials.
The gathering is held in a combined real/virtual environment, taking into account epidemiological recommendations.
