Visit of the Russian Academy of Sciences “Aleksandar Solženjicin” representatives to the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Philosophy
The University of Sarajevo and Faculty of Philosophy were visited by a delegation of the Moscow Foundation ”Alexander Solzhenitsyn” - Tatjana Jurjevna Irinarhova, Balkan programs coordinator and Rector of the “Maksim Gorky” Russian Institute and renowned writer, Aleksey Nikolayevich Varlamov. A valuable collection of recent editions by leading publishing houses was presented to the Faculty of Philosophy within the humanitarian program “Help in Books” of the Moscow Foundation, which includes various aspects of Russian culture of past centuries and modernity both in Russia and beyond its borders.
On behalf of the University of Sarajevo - Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić received the Russian delegation.
The ceremonial handover of this vast book collection was held at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy on the same day. The Balkan programs coordinator, Tatjana Irinarhova, presented the Moscow institution by screening a short documentary film on the creation and activities of fund Tagansko Brdo Embassy, directed by Sergei Zaitsev. After that Alexey Varlamov gave a lecture on the theme "Revolution as a revenge for imagination", dedicated to the October Revolution centenary. Among the guests were UNSA Vice-Rectors, Prof. Zijad Mehić, Arts, Culture and Sport, and Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić, International Cooperation.
During the handing over ceremony and exhibition opening, Faculty of Philosophy Dean, Prof. Dr. Salih Fočo, Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina cultural attaché Ana Ivljeva, Balkan projects coordinator, Tatjana Irinarhova and the Head of the Slavic Languages and Literature Department doc. dr. Adijata Ibrišimović-Šabić addressed attendees. The ceremony was ended by a performance “Krug kojemu nema kraja“.
