Democratic Culture and Peace Pedagogy in Teacher Education - Center for Peace Education UNSA Faculty of Philosophy
On 21 April 2021, the Center for Peace Education of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo began lectures within the Module entitled “Democratic Culture and Peace Pedagogy in Teacher Education.” The module belongs to the regional project Preparing Future Teachers in the Western Balkans implemented by The European Wergeland Center Oslo (https://theewc.org/projects/preparing-future-teachers-in-the-western-balkans/).
The basic goal of the Project is to prepare future teachers and teachers in practice for the teaching process in which the ideas of citizenship, democracy and human rights are promoted. This Project provides support to higher education institutions and universities in Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The module “Democratic Culture and Peace Pedagogy in Teacher Education” is attended by 17 students of the I and II cycle of studies from the Department of English, the Department of History and the Department of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. During attending the Module, students will have the opportunity to observe and implement classes in two high schools in Sarajevo Canton. On this occasion, a significant role in the Module is played by teachers - mentors from JU II Lyceum Sarajevo and International Maarif School Sarajevo. For the preparation and implementation of classes, students will use the manuals and other resources of the Council of Europe to practice and promote democratic rights and responsibilities in society, value diversity, respect human rights and fundamental freedoms.
