Every year on 29 September, the World Federation of Cardiology worldwide celebrates the anniversary of World Heart Day.

Committee for Cardiovascular Pathology of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Academy of Science and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by the President of the Committee, academician Prof. Dr. Senka Mesihović-Dinarević has been successfully organizing international scientific symposia on the occasion of World Heart Day for 12 years.

On 15 April 2021, the "online" International Scientific Symposium on "Diagnostics in Cardiology and Congenital Cardiac Anomalies in Adults" will be held. The participants of the Symposium are renowned lecturers-experts from Austria, Turkey, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The topics are extremely current and are the focus of scientific and clinical trials, so that thanks to these topics, the Symposium is gaining even more importance and significance. Some of the topics of the Symposium are reflections on the current situation in medical cardiology, with special reference to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The symposium is intended for cardiologists, internists, pediatric cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine, subspecialists in pediatric cardiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, specialists and family medicine specialists, doctors, public health specialists, medical students, students nurses/technicians and staff with an interest in cardiovascular medicine.

The aim of this Symposium is to evaluate novelties in cardiovascular diagnostics, new approaches in pediatric cardiac surgery, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, fetal echocardiography, genetics of cardiomyopathy, application of magnetic resonance imaging in pediatric cardiology, diagnosis of arrhythmias in children and adolescents. heart disease in adults and current guides to cardiac diagnosis during COVID 19 infection.

One of the conclusions of the Symposium: a systematic approach to the control of cardiovascular diseases is necessary, with the aim of integration into modern European and world medical trends, which would result in a reduction of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. It is necessary to continue monitoring the risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, starting from the fetal period to adulthood. The presented novelties in cardiovascular medicine, including diagnostic guidelines for COVID 19 in children and adults, need to be incorporated into the medical flows of health care in Southeast Europe, to apply diagnostic-therapeutic algorithms for cardiovascular diseases; to do professional promotion of systemic interventions, which also improves health in accordance with good medical practice and evidence-based medicine and guidelines of the World Health Organization and the European Union.
