Memorandum of Understanding Between the University of Sarajevo and the College of Europe - New Opportunities for Students and Researchers
During the visit of Mrs. Federica Mogherini, Rector of the College of Europe and former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy as well as Vice-President of the European Commission, an agreement was reached in November 2024 to sign a Memorandum of Collaboration between the University of Sarajevo and the College of Europe. Discussions were also held regarding the enhancement of academic cooperation, student mobility, and joint research projects.
On Thursday, 13 March 2025, in Tirana, the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Sarajevo and the College of Europe was officially presented. This significant memorandum reinforces academic collaboration and opens new avenues for students and researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Last year, the College of Europe inaugurated its campus in Tirana, aimed at training professionals in Southeast Europe who will actively contribute to the European integration processes of the Western Balkans. This campus, the third of its kind under the College of Europe, joins the already established centers in Bruges (Belgium) and Natolin (Poland), providing students with a unique opportunity for high-quality education in an international environment.
Prof. Dr. Damir Kapidžić, Head of the Institute for Social Research at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Sarajevo, attended the event on behalf of the University.
This Memorandum of Understanding serves as a foundation for future academic projects, exchange programs, and research initiatives, enabling students and faculty from the University of Sarajevo to access the educational resources and expertise of the College of Europe. In doing so, it further promotes the integration of the Bosnian academic community into the European educational space and contributes to the development of professionals dedicated to European integration.
