Meeting of UNSA Rector and Ambassador of India to Bosnia and Herzegovina
The non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of India to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Rahul Chhabra and University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Skrijelj met at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on Thursday, 19 October 2017. The meeting was attended by Mr. Vijay Khanduja, Advisor to Ambassador Advisor, and Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolic, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.
The meeting was held within the Eighth Scholarship Fair, at which for the first time the Embassy of India participated, whose representatives presented the possibilities of studying in India as well as scholarships and financial support programs.
At the meeting, the ways of further cooperation between the Embassy of India and the University of Sarajevo were discussed and the importance of exchanging ideas and setting up new projects emphasized. The interest in wider academic and cultural cooperation and considered further activities in the field was expressed.
Summing up the comprehensiveness of the University of Sarajevo, Rector Skrijelj presented the activities and development of the University to the honorable guest. They also discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and Indian Universities, primarily with the aim of exchanging students and teaching staff, as well as the possibility of establishing a Center for IT Excellence at the University in Sarajevo.
During the cooperation talks, it was emphasized that in 2011 the University of Sarajevo and Indraprastha University in New Delhi signed an Agreement on Academic Cooperation, as well as that in 2014, then Ambassador of India held two lectures at the University on topics “India in the Contemporary World” and “Eternal India and Contemporary World.“ It was agreed that in the forthcoming period a lecture by Ambassador, H. E. Rahul Chhabra to be organized for University of Sarajevo students in which His Excellency will present his country and its development through the history, existence and influence of different religions on the development of India, the economic situation, education and culture.
