Meeting in Sarajevo Canton with the "Golden Badges": The greatest support for the best
Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Edin Forto, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović and member of the KS Assembly, Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović organized a meeting with the best students of the University of Sarajevo – recipients of the "Golden Badge" award, with the aim of systematically regulating the issues of their advancement and employment, and organizing their association.
Minister Husić-Mehmedović underlined several questions that the line ministry, the Government and the KS Assembly want to answer and thus create the necessary preconditions for improving the status of these students, and ensure their status in society that they deserve with their results.
One of the current issues for these young people is the establishment of an optimal model for paying for doctoral studies in the KS Budget, for which there is a readiness of the relevant ministry.
According to MP Marjanović, the intention is to provide tuition fees, i.e. scholarships for doctoral studies for recipients of the University of Sarajevo “Golden Badges”, from the planned budget fund for science of three million KM.
“We are here to hear your ideas, suggestions, but also to see what are the biggest brakes on your progress. We want to increase the influence and value of the 'Golden Badges', because we are fully aware that you are the pillars and backbone of this society and its way forward ", said Minister Husić-Mehmedović, and called on students to be actively involved in creating the Law on Student Standards and the Law on student association, as important frameworks for establishing a better position of students in exercising their rights.
In his address, Prime Minister Forto underlined once again the importance of recognizing and supporting excellence, and stressed that the focus of the work of the KS Government is investing in knowledge and valuing success.
“The position of this Government is to create a knowledge society by supporting the best, and the best students are the bearers of development” said Prime Minister Forto.
Numerous other topics, questions, but also problems that these students face are opened today. The Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS has expressed full readiness for agreements and joint resolution of all issues that are in the domain of its departmental activities. “Golden badges” were presented today by students, i.e. masters and doctoral students from the Faculties of Electrical Engineering, Medicine, Philosophy and Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Edina Ražanica, Nasiha Nuhanović, Alma Džehverović, Kemal Altwlkany and Selver Pepić.
