Austrian Decoration for Science and Art for Prof. Dr. Vahidin Preljevic
On the occasion of the National Holiday of the Republic of Austria, on 26 October 2017 Dr. Vahidin Preljevic, associate professor of German literature at the Department of Germanistics, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy received an Austrian Decoration for Science and Art from the Austrian President. It is about one of the highest awards given by the country. With this award, Austrians and citizens of other countries are honored for “superior creative and commendable services in the areas of the sciences or the arts.” The explanation states that for many years, Prof. Preljevic has been working through his scientific projects and publications to connect the cultures of Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, advocating, inter alia, for Austrian literature in the B-H cultural space.
His merits were especially highlighted as the scientific leader of the Austrian Library, as well as his activities in marking the 100th Anniversary of the Sarajevo Assassination, which resulted in a large European Union backed conference.
