University of Sarajevo students win medals at EUSA Combat Championships 2025 | A ceremonial reception was held at the Rectorate

A reception was held today at the University of Sarajevo for students – members of the karate and taekwondo national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who achieved outstanding results at the EUSA Combat Championships 2025 (European University Combat Sports Championships), held from 22 to 25 August 2025 in Warsaw (Poland).

At this prestigious competition, University of Sarajevo students won a total of four medals. Hamza Turulja, a member of the University Karate Club “Bosna” Sarajevo, won the gold medal in the -84 kg category, while Ilma Rahmanović from the Karate Club “Ilidža” Ilidža won the bronze medal in the team competition. In the taekwondo competition, Katarina Kraišnik, a member of the TKD Club Novi Grad Sarajevo, won silver in the senior women's -57 kg category, while Džejla Makaš, also from the TKD Club Novi Grad Sarajevo, won a silver medal in the senior women's -46 kg category.

The students were met by the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, who extended his sincere congratulations on their medals, emphasizing that their exceptional results represent a significant contribution to the promotion of the University of Sarajevo, as well as the affirmation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international sports scene.

The reception was attended, in addition to the students, by Admir Zukan, Secretary General of the Karate Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and coach of the University Karate Club “Bosna” Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Safet Kapo from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Sarajevo, and Ramiz Potur, coach of the Karate Club “Ilidža”.
