UNSA Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - 10th International Congress on Advances in Veterinary Sciences and Techniques – ICAVST
The University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UNSA-VF) hosted the 10th International Congress on Advances in Veterinary Sciences and Techniques (10th ICAVST). The congress was attended by professors and researchers from our Faculty, as well as colleagues from the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Medicine and the University of Tuzla. The largest number of participants came from Turkey, from the veterinary faculties of Kafkas University, Aksaray University, and other Turkish universities.
The congress was officially opened by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Smajlović, together with the President of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Ilker Camkerten (Aksaray University, Turkey). The participants were also addressed by the Rector of Kafkas University from Turkey, Prof. Dr. Husnu Kapu. Following that, in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Katica (University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Associate Professor Dr. Enes Akyuz (Kafkas University, Turkey) provided specific guidelines for work.
The introductory, lecture was delivered by the esteemed Prof. Dr. Haroon Ahmed from Pakistan, a prominent researcher listed among the 2% most cited scientists in the world for 2024, with over 16,500 citations. He is currently an extraordinary professor of biological sciences at the Department of Biological Sciences, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan. Prof. Ahmed also gave a second notable lecture as part of the fourth session of the congress.
The second introductory lecture was presented by Dr. Emina Dervišević from the UNSA Faculty of Medicine. According to Google Scholar, her works have been cited more than 9,300 times. A significant presentation was also given by a researcher from Latvia.
On the second day of the congress, 23 July 2025, online oral presentations were held, with more than 40 speakers participating.
