Libraries National Awareness Day
The University of Sarajevo organizes the Libraries National Awareness Day on Friday, 7 September 2018 within the ERASMUS+ project Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project - Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing Libraries in the Western Balkans countries through staff development and reforming library services.
The ERASMUS+ project Capacity Building Project in Higher Education (CBHE) – “Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing Libraries in Western Balkan Countries through Staff Development and Reforming Library Services” aims at contributing to the modernization of library services and the improvement of librarians in the Western Balkan countries. The LNSS project partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina are: Universities of Sarajevo, Mostar and Cantonal and University Library of Bihać.
The goal of this event is reminding citizens of importance of library participation in building a knowledge society. On 7 September 2018, partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate in the promotion of their services by providing citizens with various educational contents (promotions, poetry, round tables, exhibitions, etc.).
The Library National Awareness Day 2017 has shown that Bosnian libraries can be united and strong, so we expect events from 2018 to show even more collaboration and presentation of library partners.
This year the University in Sarajevo has 39 BH partners. Our target group is the youngest, and one of the specific goals is to raise awareness of the importance of libraries in the earliest education. The Sarajevo Children's Public Institution has been recognized as this year's partner in organizing this national day. The National Day of Knowledge on Libraries will be celebrated in 31 departments of this institution through activities involving visual and stage excerpts.
