The graduation ceremony of the 22nd generation of ERMA program students
The European Regional Master's Programme in Democracy and Human Rights in Southeast Europe (ERMA), today awarded the graduation certificates to 24 students from the 22nd generation of this prestigious international MA programme.
The Graduation ceremony taking place at the University of Sarajevo Ceremonial Hall was attended by local and foreign diplomats, university professors, ERMA staff and ERMA students, To this date, around 650 students have completed the ERMA study, mostly from the Southeast Europe, European Union and beyond. Students receive double degree from the University of Sarajevo and the University of Bologna.
The ceremony was opened by a welcome address delivered by the University of Sarajevo Vice-rector for teaching and students’ affairs, Prof. Dženana Husremović. The audience was then addressed by Adebayo Babajide, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Riccardo Righelli, Second Secretary, Head of Cultural Affairs, Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On behalf of the ERMA professors a speech was delivered by Prof.Wolfgang Benedek from Karl Franzens University, Graz.
Representatives of the 2022/2023 generation, Luljeta Koshi and Anna Manzon also shared their experiences on behalf of the group. Maida Salkanović addressed the audience as an ERMA Alumni Network (EAN) Board member. Study Co-Directors, Prof. Marco Borraccetti and Prof. Asim Mujkić presented the report for 2022/2023 and announced students whose theses were selected as the best for this academic year, as well as other graduation awards.
Lamija Kovačević was awarded as the best student in 2022/2023 with the 6 months paid internship sponsored by the Global Campus of Human Rights. The thesis of Chiara Maria Murgia will be published in the Global Campus of Human Rights repository, while the theses of Esmeralda Breshani, Anna Manzon and Lamija Kovačević were awarded the best thesis award and will be published in the ERMA Best theses booklet.
The ERMA program is a joint effort of several universities in Southeast Europe and the European Union. Since 2000, it has been funded by the European Union. For ten years, the EU funding has been provided through the Global Campus of Human Rights.
