The Science Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina constitutive session held
In Sarajevo on 21 January 2021, in the Building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the constitutive session of the new convocation of the Science Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held.
The Science Council of BiH is an expert and advisory body of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It was formed by the Decision of the Council of Ministers of BiH in 2010 on the basis of the Framework Law on the Fundamentals of Scientific Research and Coordination of Internal and International Scientific Research Cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Council has 12 members and a president, proposed by the institutions in charge of science in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These are prominent and reputable, internationally recognized scientists.
The members of the new convocation of the Council are: academician Prof. Dr. Sc. Ljerka Ostojić, academician Prof. Dr. Drago Branković, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Velagić, Dr. Sc. Aleksandar Maksimovic, Prof. Dr. Enra Mehmedika Suljić, Doz. Dr. Sc. Dražen Barbarić, Prof. Dr. Dušan Jokanović, Prof. Dr. Marija Čutura, Prof. Dr. Marijana Kapović-Solomon, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Prof. Dr. Reuf Karabeg, Prof. Dr. Vesna Miljanović-Damjanović and Prof. Dr. Esad Delibašić.
Prof. Dr. Sc. Ljerka Ostojić was appointed President of the Council.
At the constitutive session of the Council, the will and readiness of the members of this body to give their full contribution to the improvement of the situation in the field of science and technology in Bosnia and Herzegovina were unanimously expressed. It was emphasized that science should be recognized as an activity of special interest to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other hand, should become an environment conducive to scientific work.
To this end, new ideas were presented on concrete activities that will be the main backbone of the Council's work in the coming period.
