Visit by the Turkish Embassy Attaché for the Education
The Turkish Embassy's Education Attaché, Mr. Vasi Ete, visited the University of Sarajevo on Tuesday, 17 October 2017, where he met with Prof. Dr. Rifat Skrijelj, Rector, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolic, Vice Rector for international Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Aida Hodzic, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, and Dr. Jasna Bosnjovic, International Cooperation office Head.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Rifat Gurgendereli, Turkish language lecturer at the Department of Oriental Filology at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy and Behçet Loklar, PhD candidate the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy.
Mr. Ete presented the Education Office which was established at the Turkish Embassy in April 2016 with the aim of strengthening educational cooperation. He emphasized that through various scholarship programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina about two thousand students from the Republic of Turkey studied.
Emphasizing the importance of inter-university cooperation, Rector Skrijelj mentioned the successful cooperation of the University of Sarajevo with universities from the Republic of Turkey, stressing signed 11 bilateral inter-university agreements, 14 Mevlana protocols and 4 Erasmus+ protocols. In the winter semester of the 2017/2018 at the University of Sarajevo, five students from Turkey are staying through the Mevlana program, while 4 students from the Sarajevo University left for Turkish universities.
It was emphasized that the cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the universities in the Republic of Turkey is realized through the joint organization of scientific conferences, and in September this year the 28th International Scientific-Expert Conference of Agriculture and Food Industry was organized in cooperation with the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences and the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Ege. Successful long-term cooperation is also realized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Istanbul.
