The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering visited by representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway and the UNDP
A delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Sarajevo and representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo in May 2020. The reason for the visit was a donation of scientific research equipment from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in the amount of about 50,000 euros.
The donation was realized with the help of UNDP within the project “Better Governance to Faster Economic Growth” (EGG). The project, among other things, envisages the creation of a network of STEM classrooms and fab-labs in educational institutions with the aim of raising the level of students’ interest in technical sciences and stimulating entrepreneurship.
The donated equipment created the conditions for the establishment of a laboratory for testing polymeric materials. With this donation, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway wanted to create conditions for the production of protective equipment at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to help prevent the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), but also to provide better conditions for research and education of students within the laboratory for testing polymer materials.
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Dean, Prof. Dr. Izet Bijelonja thanked the representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway for the extremely valuable donation, UNDP representatives for the very fast realization of the donation through the procurement of equipment, as well as the staff of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering who contributed to the donation process and production of protective equipment to help prevent coronavirus infection.
