Academician Taib Šarić, University of Sarajevo professor emeritus passed away
A prominent scientist, University of Sarajevo professor emeritus and a Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina full member, academician Taib Šarić passed away in Sarajevo on 15 June 2019 announced Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A joint commemorative session of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo will be held on Tuesday, 18 June at 10:00, Academy of Sciences and Arts of BiH amphitheater. The funeral will be held on the same day at the Lav cemetery.
Taib Šarić was born in 1934 in Čapljina. He studied in Čapljina, Mostar and Derventa. He graduated, received his Masters and Ph.D. at the University of Sarajevo.
He did post-graduate studies in the United States (Kansas State University and Bucknell University, Pennsylvania) and in the Netherlands (Wageningen Agricultural University). He worked for two years in India's Agricultural Research Institute (Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi). He also studied in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Switzerland.
He was a Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences professor emeritus, where he conducted classes at the postgraduate study in agroecology. He has published more than 100 scientific papers and about 600 professional articles in the fields of agriculture, agro-ecology, herbology and environmental protection, which are the subject of his research for five decades of work. He participated in the education of 44 generations of agronomy students. He also published 24 books (with re-expanded editions of 45 books in total) from the above fields - university and high school textbooks and practice manuals.
