In memoriam Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Čedić (1948-2019)

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing away of esteemed Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Čedić. UNSA Language Institute employees, as well as the academic community, appreciate the efforts invested by Professor Čedić to help the Institute overcome war and postwar days. His struggle for the survival of the Institute, along with a small number of associates, has been fruitful.
Prof. Čedić went through all scientific ranks, from assistant to scientific adviser, associate and Institute projects manager, ending his career as Institute director. Among the regional linguists, he was recognizable by the mildness and encouragement of cooperation. He also contributed to the standardization of the Bosnian language by directing and working in lexicographic, scientific and professional projects, organizing the first symposium on the Bosnian language, as well as engagement in teaching at the University of Sarajevo.
We invite Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Čedić’s colleagues and friends to attend the commemorative session that will be held at the Faculty of Education, University of Sarajevo, Skenderija 72 on 13 June 2019 at 12:00. Commemorative session organizers are the Language Institute and Faculty of Pedagogy, University of Sarajevo and BZK “Preporod.”
