Conference on the heritage of the past on the challenges in building democratic institutions at the Faculty of Political Sciences

At the UNSA Faculty of Political Sciences,  the international conference “Diversity and Democratic Governance: Legacies of the Past, Present Challenges and Future Directions” started and will last till 15 June.

The conference organizers are the International Association of Political Science (IPSA), the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo. The conference gathers 200 scientists from the field of political science and related disciplines from all over the world (USA, Brazil, Pakistan, Japan, Ireland, Nigeria, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, UK, Philippines, Hungary, Australia, Denmark, Austria, Germany, etc. )

The conference will address the challenges in building democratic institutions, and how the legacy of the past affects the present and future of democratic governance in ethnically diverse societies. The conference will provide an opportunity to question the role of local, national, regional and international actors in developing democracy, adapting to ethnic diversity and shaping political institutions.
The keynote speaker is Professor Kanchan Chandra from the University of New York who will talk about new ethnic nationalisms and how identity influences democracy and governance in the 21st century.
