University of Sarajevo Senate Ceremonial – Four UNSA Professors Emeriti Promotion

The University of Sarajevo marks its 76 anniversaries through a series of ceremonial events called the Festive December Days, honoring our tradition, achievements, and future vision. The Festive December Days of the University of Sarajevo will be commemorated with a series of artistic performances, academic roundtables, as well as the promotion of graduates, master's students, and doctoral candidates, along with a ceremonial session of the Senate and the promotion of professors emeritus.

The UNSA Senate’s Ceremonial Session and the professors emeriti promotion were held on Wednesday, 17 December  2025, in the UNSA Rectorate’s Ceremonial Hall.

Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Rector in his speech on the occasion of the 76^th Anniversary, reflected on the past year, highlighting the activities and successes achieved by the University thanks to the dedicated work of the academic community. He spoke about the achievements in science, arts, and research, emphasizing the importance of internationalization, which enables students and faculty to have a greater presence on the global academic scene. Rector Zaimović especially highlighted strategic projects, such as the construction of a new university library and the development of the University Campus in Sarajevo, as well as the modernization of existing resources, which will contribute to the improvement of teaching and research work.

The honorary title of Professor Emeritus is awarded to retired full professors of the University of Sarajevo who have, over an extended period, continuously contributed to the advancement and development of scientific and artistic research, as well as to the development and progress of the University and its faculties/academies, and have gained an international reputation.

The UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, promoted the following professors as University of Sarajevo Professors Emeriti:

• Dr. Sci. Rada Čahtarević, retired full professor of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Architecture
• Dr. Sci. Adnan Silajdžić, retired full professor of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Islamic Sciences
• Dr. Sci. Pavo Jurišić, retired full professor of the University of Sarajevo – Catholic Theological Faculty
• Dr. Sci. Meliha Povlakić, retired full professor of the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Law
