Ambassador of Algeria Honors University of Sarajevo’s Department of Arabic Language and Literature

Sarajevo, 12 November 2025 — On the occasion of the Algerian National Day, H.E. Ambassador Mohammed Meraimi, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, conferred a Letter of Appreciation upon the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, University of Sarajevo, recognizing its seven-decade tradition in advancing Arabic language, literature, and culture.
In the same ceremony, Ambassador Meraimi presented a student commendation to Mahir Ganic for the best essay on Algerian history, praising the work as a testament to the vitality of Algerian–Bosnian scholarly engagement.
Speaking to the press, Professor Dr. Mirza Sarajkic, Head of Department, underscored the depth of ties between the two nations and commended Ambassador Meraimi’s tireless efforts to broaden institutional cooperation. “Our partnership with Algeria is anchored in mutual respect and a shared commitment to knowledge,” he noted, highlighting ongoing initiatives to expand university-to-university collaboration, faculty and student exchanges, and joint academic projects between institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Algeria.
The Department expressed its gratitude for the distinction and reaffirmed its dedication to serving as a regional hub for Arabic studies, fostering research networks, and cultivating the next generation of scholars who will carry forward the intellectual and cultural dialogue between both countries.
