Conference “Intellectual Property Rights and Web 3.0” Held at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo
On 22 April 2024, the first international scientific conference titled “Intellectual Property Rights and Web 3.0” was held at the University of Sarajevo's Faculty of Law. The conference focused on the impact of advanced and disruptive digital technologies and phenomena (such as AI, Blockchain, decentralized Web 3.0, Metaverse, Smart Contracts, and Brain-Computer Interface) on intellectual property rights.
The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by Dean Prof. Dr. Zinka Grbo, Minister Dr. Adna Mesihović (Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo), and a keynote presentation by Prof. Dr. Izet Razija Mešević.
The conference featured 12 speakers with diverse expertise, who presented their research on the impact of new technologies on various aspects of intellectual property rights (copyright, patent law, trademark law, internet service providers, and their influence on copyright law, etc.).
The conference was held as part of the Project “The Importance of Intellectual Property Rights in Promoting Innovation and Creativity at the University of Sarajevo” (IVIK UNSA), which was supported by the Center for Research and Development at the University of Sarajevo and financed by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of the Canton of Sarajevo.
Before the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Dušan V. Popović and Doc. Dr. Novak Vujičić presented their research; before the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, Prof. Dr. Ivana Kunda presented her findings; before the Faculty “Justinian the First” in Skopje, Prof. Dr. Neda Zdraveva presented her expertise on the assigned topic; before Ankara University and the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Turkey, Judge Prof. Dr. Hasan Kadır Yilmaztekin delivered a lecture; Dr. sc. Jasmina Mutabžija, a senior lecturer at the University College Par Rijeka and director of IT company Posluh d.o.o., shared her academic and practical expertise; before the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Iza Razija Mešević and Ass. Adna Škamo presented their research; Prof. Dr. Amila Akagić from the University of Sarajevo-Electrical Engineering Faculty introduced us to the technical component of AI, Blockchain, and Web 3.0 technology development; Anela Husković, a Solution Architect and Data & AI Engineer at Microsoft, presented IT industry activities in this area; Advocates Nihad Sijerčić and Nikola Kliska from Karanović&Partners Law Firm shared their experience from judicial and legal practice with us.
