Book “Bosnian Language and Communication in Teaching Practice” by Prof. Dr. Ismaila Palić and Prof. Dr. Mirela Omerović Promoted

University of Sarajevo - the Faculty of Education held the promotion of the book “Bosnian Language and Communication in teaching practice” by Prof. Dr. Ismail Palić and Prof. Dr. Mirela Omerović that was held in the University of Sarajevo Ceremonial Hall on 20 September 2023.

The book is based on of the results of the research project “Language Expression and Development of Communication Competence in the Teaching Process,” which was supported by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and the Youth, Sarajevo Canton Sarajevo in 2021, whose leader was the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Education. The publisher is Sarajevo Publishing.

At the very beginning, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj pointed out that the book “Bosnian Language and Communication in Teaching Practice” is the result of the authors’ persevered work, dedication and expertise. “Their research and knowledge in the field of Bosnian language and communication contribute to the richness of knowledge and enable a better understanding of the linguistic dynamics and the challenges we face in teaching practice. The importance of language and communication in the educational context cannot be overrated. They are the foundation of each education, the key for successful interaction between students and teachers, as well as a means of shaping and expressing ideas. Therefore, this book comes at the right time, illuminating the importance of language competence in education” said Rector Škrijelj.

Academician Marina Katnić-Bakaršić, Prof. Dr. Refik Bulić and Prof. Dr. Lejla Nakaš, and the moderator of the event Leila Hamzagić Kovačević, presented the bok at the event.

Academician Marina Katnić-Bakaršić pointed out: "For many years, we have been needed for many years to make one such book. It is necessary because through classes we must develop this communication competence and the pragmatic competence that the authors have introduced for the first time. With that I am with great satisfaction participated in this project".

The book thematizes very current issues related to the status of the Bosnian language in BiH. The company, for the teaching of Bosnian language and literature and the problems we face, and talks about modern scientific knowledge in the field of linguistics, applied linguistics, psycholinguistics and educational sociolinguistics.

“The book is divided into two units, where in the first part deals with language as the main human activity that makes a man man. The second aspect deals with strategies on how to make young generations competent, capable of achieving certain language and stylish strategies what they want” said Prof. Dr. Nakaš.

Authors Prof. Dr. Palić and Omerović expressed the words of gratitude to everyone who was part of the creation of this book and their research. Prof. Dr. Palić points out that they were writing this book in mind two aspects, and they are Bosnian and 'better' Bosnian.“
