Award for the best student work 'Alija Kučukalić' 2020.

On the occasion of marking the 48th anniversary of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, the Annual Exhibition of ALU Students was organized in October this year. Students of all academic years with six departments - Teacher, Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Graphic Design and Product Design, exhibited in the premises of the Academy of Fine Arts, works created in the past academic year 2019/2020.
The annual exhibition of ALU students presented the heterogeneity of artistic methods, ways and actions that marked the previous academic year. Also, this year's exhibition is proof that thanks to the commitment, collegiality and good practice, students and teachers of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo remain creative and innovative despite external circumstances and changed working conditions.

As part of the exhibition, the traditional award ceremony for the best student work “Alija Kučukalić” took place. The Alija Kučukalić Award established in 1997 and named in memory of a prominent Bosnian artist, cultural worker and professor at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts, Alija Kučukalić (1937-1992).
The 'Alija Kučukalić' Awarding Commission composed of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Krzović, emeritus (Chairman of), Prof. Dr. Dubravka Lejlić Pozderac and Doz. Dr. Ema Mazrak, for the winner of the award, discussed the students and their works proposed by the home departments.

This year's candidates for the 'Alija Kučukalić' award:
•    Teacher's Department: Kasim Kajdić and Amila Bajrić;
•    Graphics Department: Amir Ahmet Lutvikadić;
•    Sculpture Department: Hana Hurem;
•    Painting Department: Kemil Bekteši and Ana Milijević;
•    Product Design Department: Mediha Džambegović;
•    Graphic Design Department: Emina Škaljić.

The award committee praised the work and engagement of all students who exhibited at the ALU Annual Exhibition, as well as the efforts of their mentors. The decision on this year's winner unanimously went to a student from the Department of Product Design - Medihi Džambegović.

The Commission considers that: “the work of student Mediha Džambegović, 'KO 個 eco-friendly necklaces' which continues through the project 'Biopos', is presented as a complex whole of individual objects, designed as separate formal-aesthetic creations and as a complete result of research into possible design in eco-materials, and within the curriculum at the Product Design Department. Student Džambegović first paid great attention to the plastic values of traditional eco-materials, performing shapes in sensitive degrees of physical transformation from fluid to solid form, and then their refinement with color and other eco-structures. In the cases made of such ordinary materials, the candidate has achieved through various forms and applications in contemporary product design. She also presented her research and works in a catalog, and everything is better understood if we take into account her outstanding overall results in teaching.”

The commission praised the work of Dunja Topalović and Hamza Bavčić, students of the Product Design Department, and the work and commitment for class II of the Graphic Design academic year 2019/2020, more precisely for students Anja Stergar, Emina Numanović, Sergeja Mačara and Elma Nukić.
