In Memoriam - Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mutevelić
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of passing away of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mutevelić, University of Sarajevo professor emeritus.
Prof. Mutevelić was born in Bugojno on 3 August 1933 where he completed primary and secondary education. After graduating, he got his first employment at the Vlasenica Veterinary Station, where he was the founder of the organization of artificial insemination of cows in the area. During that period, he also worked on his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Due to the noticeable achieved results, he moved to the newly opened dairy farm Bojnik and organized a veterinary service, and the success of reproduction rises to the highest level in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After these results, he received an invitation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo, where he transferred as an assistant professor at the Department of Suppression of Infertility of Domestic Animals. With the DC-10 project, in 1987, the first in the Balkans, he successfully did embryo transfer in cows. He is engaged until his retirement at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo.
He has published a significant number of professional and scientific papers, university textbooks, professional books, and has been a participant in a large number of domestic and international scientific, professional conferences and projects.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mutevelić was a mentor and a member of the commissions to many specialists, masters and doctoral students in the field of Domestic Animals Reproduction.
He received numerous awards for his exceptional contribution to veterinary medicine.
