The European Commission expert Bernhard Fabianek visited the University of Sarajevo
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj hosted Mr. Bernhard Fabianek from the European Commission, a senior expert in the General Directorate for Research and Innovation, and Gianluca Vannini, the Head of the Department of Social Development, Civil Society and the Cross-Border Cooperation of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Vice-Rector for Finance, Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžić, director of the Center for Research and Development and Mr.Sc. Nina Begović, Head of Research Department.
The meeting was dedicated to talks on projects in which the University of Sarajevo actively participates, which funds the European Commission through the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Program. The University of Sarajevo is the leading institution in BiH in the number of participated participation in the Horizon Europe program, and from September this year is the coordinator of the research project that will be funded through this program.
At the meeting were also presented significant achievements and future plans at the University of Sarajevo, with a special emphasis on investing in research infrastructure and initiatives to ensure the sustainability and openness of the infrastructure.
Prof. Dr. Zaimović, Vice-Rector for Finance, presented the University of Sarajevo Campus Master Plan, which includes impressive plans for the construction and improvement of the infrastructure, which will enable even better research and education conditions.
The importance of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the institutions of the European Union, which not only supports the development of higher education and research in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also strengthens the links between the academic community and institutions, which open new opportunities for innovation and progress in the region.
