Kerry Kennedy on Human Rights at the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo

A person's status is not measured by his material wealth but by what he does for his society

SARAJEVO, 11 October 2019 - American Human Rights Foundation activist and president of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation (RFK) - Kerry Kennedy addressed professors and students at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo with the topic “Education for Human Rights - Speak Truth To Power.”

In addition to discussing the importance of human rights education, the occasion for Mrs. Kennedy's meeting with representatives of the Faculty was to discuss a project that is being done in collaboration with the RFK Foundation, aiming to develop an overall education system in this area. On human rights education initiatives for future generations, Mrs. Kennedy points out: “People in their work cannot and should not rely solely on formal human rights education. Sometimes just personal or loved ones' experience is enough to become vocal human rights activists. A person's status is not measured by his material wealth but by what he does for his society.”

Kerry Kennedy is the daughter of former U.S. Senator Robert. F. Kennedy. Throughout her working life, Kerry has been dedicated to seeking equal justice for all, promoting and protecting basic human rights and upholding the rule of law. With her at the helm, the RFK Foundation supports defense attorneys and litigation lawyers; promotes human rights to the student population through the innovative Speak Truth To Power curriculum, and engages the corporate community for sustainable investment and business-human balance. “Using the stories and experiences of human rights defenders from around the world, RFK provides young people with the tools they need to confront and speak out against the most horrific human rights abuses and violations in the world,” said Kerry Kennedy.
