eVIVA Info Day and Workshop held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo
At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Sarajevo, University of Sarajevo, EVIVA Info Day and Workshop were held on 22 September 2020.
Within the eVIVA Info Day, attendees were introduced to its current implementations. The University of Sarajevo Faculty of Mechanical Engineering participates as a partner in the European Union CBHE program ERASMUS+ project called eVIVA - Enhancing and Validating service related competencies in Versatile learning environments in Western Balkan Universities. The project involves 16 partners from 9 countries (Germany, Austria, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo). As part of the project, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo trained 30 students to acquire competencies in the field of teamwork and business (including intercultural) communication, which are usually referred to as the so-called “soft skills” and while they are very important for the capacity of graduates, they are rarely paid attention in Faculties.
eVIVA is a research and development project aimed at developing a special approach to learning service-oriented competencies in higher education institutions. The project's aim is increasing the interest in higher education for the concept of service economy and service-oriented competencies, the existing internet learning environment as well as access and instruments for validation of learning outcomes in their practice.
Also, a workshop was held primarily for business entities representatives, and the present academy and students representatives. The workshop’s goals are:
- Introducing business entities to:
- The concept and development of service-oriented competencies of students,
- Level5 methodology,
- Certification of students in the field of service-oriented competencies,
- Practical examples
- So the business entities would give their opinions and suggestions for improving the development of service-oriented competencies of students, in order to get better staff for modern markets.
At the event’s end, students were presented with Level5 certificates issued by German partners.
