Organized by the Faculty of Humanities, Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar and the Institute of History, University of Sarajevo at the Mostar Cultural Center on 24 June 2020, Book of Proceedings “Bosnia and its Medieval Neighbors - Approaches and Perspectives” was presented. At the beginning, attendees were greeted by Dr. Sedad Bešlija, Institute of History Acting Director and Doz. Dr. Edim Šator, Faculty of Humanities in Mostar Dean.
The discussion on the Proceedings was moderated by Doz. Dr. Adis Zilić who was also the event’s initiator. In the first part, the editors Dr. Elmedina Duranović, Dr. Enes Dedić and Dr. Nedim Rabić made an introductory speech, highlighting some of the specifics of the Collection, such as the process of preparation and publication of the edition from holding a scientific conference to printing, i.e. from idea to realization, explanation of the term "neighbors" in the medieval context, which was chosen in the title of the Proceedings, then some basic information about the content of the Proceedings, which includes 14 scientific papers that were double-reviewed before publication.
In the second part of the program, the audience could ask questions about the Proceedings, but also about the medieval past of Bosnia in general. In this way, an interesting interaction of the promoter with the audience developed, in which the associates of the Institute together with the moderator tried to answer and explain the questions from the audience.
In this way, the people of Mostar showed how much they respect the Bosnian past, but also scientific institutions together with historians who make efforts to shed light on unknown foreign histories and bring closer to the wider readership, in this case, the distant medieval roots of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to colleagues from the two institutions that organized the event, the audience included, among others, prominent public and cultural workers from Mostar.
