The aim of the signed Agreement is to improve research, development, innovation and technology transfer in general, and primarily in the fields of pharmacy, biotechnology, health, economics and management.
University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović highlighted the importance of this cooperation for the University of Sarajevo, emphasizing that the University's strategic commitment is precisely cooperation with the private sector.
“We want the cooperation to be concrete through projects that open up new opportunities for development, especially at the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, but also at other members of the University that achieve extraordinary results,” said Rector Zaimović, emphasizing that he considers cooperation with the private sector to be crucial, because this brings the University of Sarajevo closer to the model of modern universities that actively participate in the development of society.
The Bosnalijek Director, Mr. Hadžić, congratulated UNSA Rector on taking office, and emphasized the importance of joint work and cooperation between the academic and business communities.
“Both the academic and business communities face challenges, but also a great responsibility towards future generations. Practice without knowledge is blind, and knowledge without practice is useless. Our task as a society is to bring them closer to each other as much as possible,” emphasized Director Hadžić, and reminded that Bosnalijek is a leader when it comes to supporting the academic community and society in general, and expressed the hope that this Agreement will justify that reputation. “Only through a serious education system can we build a sustainable future for all of us,” emphasized Director Hadžić.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that this Agreement brings completely new perspectives for the development of the University of Sarajevo and further strengthens Bosnalijek’s role in supporting educational and scientific development in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Agreement envisages cooperation in joint scientific research and development of new products and technologies, as well as exchange of knowledge and experience in creating new values primarily in the fields of pharmacy, biotechnology, health, economics and management, exchange of researchers, professional and other staff, organization of joint seminars, workshops and conferences, and transfer of knowledge, technology and commercialization of research results. Also envisaged is the exchange of working, student and teaching staff for the purpose of education and research development, as well as cooperation in the implementation of national and international projects.
The Agreement was concluded for a period of four years, with the possibility of extension, and represents an important step towards strengthening ties between the academic community and the pharmaceutical industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
