Reflections on the “new” reality in the video works of Academy of Fine Arts students
In mid-March 2020, due to extraordinary circumstances caused by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), recommendations and orders of the competent authorities on protection measures, including those on reducing movement in public space, and the necessary maintenance of physical distance, suspended classes in classrooms, workshops and the studios of the Academy of Fine Arts, ie its relocation to the online space, the students of the Academy faced completely new challenges.
Taking into account the possibilities and importance of artistic thinking of personal and collective, i.e. shared experiences that connect us, both intimacy and personal space, and social circumstances and values that we share with others, Academy students are within online classes on "Introduction to time-based multimedia creation II," invited to critical reflection on reality, that is, to react in a creative way, through the form of art video, to the context in which they live, learn and create. One of the requirements was that all video works should be recorded and fully produced in the private space in which the students currently reside, with the personal means of work they have in their space.
Under the mentorship of part time Prof. Dr. Adla Isanović and Asst. Nedim Šećeragić, video works were created by the Academy of Fine Arts second year students: Nukić Elma, Numanović Emina, Stergar Anja, Mačar Sergej (from the department of Graphic Design), Ćosić Dženan, Dacić Rijad, Idrizbegović Lamija, Jukić Irma, Kujundžić Manuela (from Product Design Department), Čaplja Amer, Dženan Berberović (from the Graphics Department), Dario Jurenić, Adna Turulja and Merjem Duraković (from the Teachers' Department).
