BANU and UNSA: Symposium “The Life and Opus of Academician Muhamed Filipović”
The Bosniac Academy of Sciences and Arts (BANU) and the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) organize the Symposium “The Life and Opus of Academician Muhamed Filipović” to celebrate his 90th birthday. The symposium will be held in the University of Sarajevo's Ceremonial Hall on Saturday, 12 October 2019, 10:00.
“The past and present of Bosnian society and science in academician Muhamed Filipović has an extremely valuable example of an authentic Bosnian scientific leader and contemporary thinker, steadfast and courageous in critical reflection on society and its development, and at the same time an unwavering advocate of scientifically based socio-political and civic action. The collection of papers that distinguished fellow scientists devote to the life and opus of Academician Filipović vividly testify that 70 years of his scientific work are inseparably linked to 70 years of existence of our University” said University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj.
At the Symposium Academician Filipović’s colleagues and friends, academicians, professors and scientists will speak about the life, opus and his immense contribution: University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, academicians: Muamer Zukorlić, Asim Kurjak, Mehmed A. Akšamija, Enver Halilović, Miro Jakovljević, Galib Šivo, Refik Šećibović, Abdulah Sidran and Ferid Muhić, and lecturers from the BANU Young Scientists Club: Aida Kulo Ćesić, Jahja Fehratović and Selma Porović.
The University of Sarajevo is proud of the richness of life and achievements of Academician Filipović - an unrivaled teacher of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of the Bosnian spirit. The impressive social and academic results of his work, as well as the peculiar method of his social and scientific engagement, will serve as a guide to the present and future generations of scientists.
