3rd BH Slavic Congress Held in Sarajevo
The 3rd Slavic Congress of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the Slavic Committee in BiH, was held at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy from 17 September 2021 to 19 September 2021. Despite the complex epidemiological situation in BiH and the world, the Congress brought together over fifty experts in Slavic languages and literatures who participated either live or online.
The Congress was officially opened on Friday, 17 September 2021, by introductory speeches delivered by the Organizing Committee President, Prof. Dr. Andrea Lešić-Thomas, President of the Slavic Committee, Doz. Dr. Mehmed Kardaš. After the presentation of the proceedings from the Second Bosnian Slavic Congress (the collection of papers from literature was presented by Prof. Dr. Adijata Ibrišimović-Šabić, the collection of papers from linguistics by Dr. Mehmed Kardaš), in the spirit of good tradition, the “Ban Kulin’s Charter” was awarded for outstanding contribution to Slavic studies. With a unanimous decision and with great satisfaction, the Organizing Committee bestowed award upon esteemed academician Senahid Halilović.
The three-day review of Bosnian linguistic, literary and cultural contemporaries and heritage in the wider Slavic and non-Slavic context and the exchange of scientific research took place within broad thematic blocks, and we thank all participants for interesting topics and useful expert comments and discussions.
We owe a sincere thank you to the management of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, especially the Vice Dean for Research, International Academic Cooperation And Publishing, Prof. Dr. Amir Duranović and the head of the IT Support Service, B.Sc. el. ing. Armen Bukvić, as well as friends of the Slavic Committee with the help of which we successfully organized the Third Bosnian Slavic Congress.
