The UNSA Language Institute has promoted scientific editions and marked International Mother Language Day
The University of Sarajevo Language Institute promoted, on International Mother Language Day, several scientific editions published in the last calendar year.
University of Sarajevo Language Institute Director Dr. Jasmin Hodzic stressed that these publications are also fundamentally related to International Mother Language Day, in the context of caring for status issues of the mother tongue in society.
“International Mother Language Day has emerged, above all, in the context when students have publicly protested because they do not have a resolved issue of institutional or legal concern about their language. Unfortunately, we still have the same problems in our country today. That is why it is important that, on this day, we are talking about the status issues of the mother tongue in society, that we are talking about the fight against linguistic discrimination, about freedoms, the fight against hegemonism and imperialism, which are all negative teak past systems of” according to director Hodžić.
Language Institute Editions from 2003 were presented:
- “Institutionalization of Language Science in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Miscellany)”
- “Language Manuals: BOSANSKA ELIFNICA”, Prepared by: Sumeja Bičević and Amir Sakić
- “The language expression of Varice of Br. Antun Knežević”, author Ivan Tomić
- Journal “Literary Language” no. 34.
Promotion participants were Prof. Dr. Adnan Kadrić, Dr. Jasmin Hodzic, Dr. Zenaida Karavdić and Mr. Aida Kršo.
Head of Publishing, Library, Information of the University of Sarajevo's Language Institute, Aida Kršo stressed the importance of scientific research into language dealing and presenting it to the public, noting how important it is to use all potential in language.
The University of Sarajevo Language Institute will organize a number of activities during the event Days of the Institute of Language 2024, intended for all who want to expand knowledge from general culture, all in order to think about our mother tongue.
