A monitoring visit within the Erasmus + project Library Network Support Services: Modernizing libraries in Western Balkans countries through staff development and reforming library services (LNSS) was held on 19 November 2018. The University of Sarajevo Rectorate meeting was attended by the BH National Erasmus+ Office, Messrs. Prof. Dr. Lejla Hajdarpašić, UNSA LNSS project coordinator and Ms. Fuada Muslić, Administrative Coordinator.
The LNSS Project Coordinator is the Limerick Institute of Technology (Ireland). Project implementation started in October 2015 and run until 15 October 2018. During the meeting, the project results were presented, as well as significant activities resulting in the strategic documents related to libraries development, the LNSS curricula development, online platform for libraries - Springshare development, and the organization of the National Library Awareness Day.
The monitoring visit was continued at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy, where reception was held with Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhamed Dželilović and a meeting with project participants and Department of Library Sciences students.
During the visit, it was emphasized that the LNSS project is focused on strengthening higher education libraries as the primary bases of the educational and scientific research process, improving the competencies of information professionals through the introduction of a train and trainer concept and a LNSS curriculum composed of eight modules, redefining library and information services of higher education libraries, or strategy of their development. At the same time, the LNSS project is devoting great attention to the processes of raising the community about the importance of information experts or libraries in the modern information space.
This is best illustrated by the activity of the National Library Awareness Day aimed at promoting library and information services not only in higher education but also in school, special, public and national libraries in the countries of the Western Balkans, which will be held in BiH at the national level in mid-September and this lasts for ten years (2017-2027).
