Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamed Delivered a Pharmacotherapy in Tobacco Lecture at the Faculty of Pharmacy
The University of Sarajevo Faculty of Pharmacy hosted Prof. Dr. Mohammad Haniqi Nick Mohamed, Distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
During the visit, the distinguished professor gave a lecture at the Faculty of Pharmacy Amphitheater on 26 February 2020 “Pharmacotherapy of smoking cessation for tobacco use disorder.” The attendees had the opportunity to hear about modern approaches to tobacco addiction therapy, to discuss the complexities of specific cases and the challenges of tobacco addiction pharmacotherapy, and Prof. Haniki offered answers based on extensive experience.
Smoking is now considered to be a disease called “tobacco addiction”, which, according to the World Health Organization's 10th International Categorization of Diseases, is diagnosed with F17, in the psychoactive substance addiction group. Tobacco addiction, like all other diseases, requires work on prevention, but also increasingly important treatment.
