BKSTONE project activities - a workshop on further project implementation held at the UNSA Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sarajevo is implementing another Erasmus+ project - BKSTONE - Higher Education-Enterprise Platform for Fostering, Modernization and Sustainable Growth in the Natural Stone Industry in the Western Balkans. The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the natural stone production sector of the Western Balkans, and through the establishment and strengthening of ties between higher education institutions and industry, as well as modernization and internationalization of the higher education institutions curricula. In order for the local industry to become competitive on the European market, it must establish new methods of quarrying and processing, conduct quality control according to EU standards, and adopt new marketing concepts and establish more extensive use of e-commerce.
Such a comprehensive set of changes cannot be achieved without the cooperation of all actors within local communities, including secondary and higher education and higher education and vocational education institutions, which have to adapt their curricula to market needs.
Through the project, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering procured valuable computer equipment, new software packages, and laboratory and measuring equipment. As part of the project, multi-day trainings and education of teaching staff and students at universities and institutes from partner countries that are European leaders in the stone sector are planned. The planned activities will be implemented next year with consortium partners from Spain, Greece and Italy.
Within the project implementation activities, a workshop was held from 2 to 3 December at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, where consortium partners prepared and agreed on further steps in project implementation.
From BiH, in addition to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, the University of Mostar is also participating in the project.
