Welcome Reception - Signing of the Student Peace Declaration

A welcome reception for distinguished guests and participants in the event dedicated to signing the Student Peace Declaration was held tonight at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of signing the Student Declaration on Peace and the significance of the initiative led by students and their roles in its implementation.

Students of the EUPeace Alliance and the University of Sarajevo, as the partner university in this alliance and host of the event, are organizing a historic gathering on 17 September 2025 — the Signing of the Student Peace Declaration . On this occasion, the University of Sarajevo will host students from over 100 universities and at least 10 European university alliances, as well as representatives of student organizations from the Western Balkans and the European Union. This initiative, launched by students of the University of Sarajevo and led through the Student Association of the EUPeace Alliance, highlights the role of youth in promoting peace, justice, and inclusion across Europe.

The declaration will serve as a platform for dialogue with EU institutions, governments, and international organizations, positioning students as active participants in building peace and democratic resilience. Symbolically and practically, it represents the collective voice of a generation committed to preserving peace and building bridges of cooperation.
