US Politicians Visit Srebrenica: Supporting the Truth about Genocide and Strengthening the Culture of Remembrance

US politicians Paul Mark, Senator from Massachusetts, and Lindsay Sabadosa, Representative from the Massachusetts House of Representatives, visited Sarajevo and Srebrenica on Saturday, 6 September 2025.
The delegation was a guest of the Institute for the Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo, which organized their visit. During their stay, Dr. Hikmet Karčić, a research associate at the Institute, introduced the US politicians to the work of the Institute and its projects.
During their visit, they visited the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center, where they visited the Memorial and Cemetery of the Victims of the July 1995 Genocide, and spoke with representatives of the Memorial Center about the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance and fighting against genocide denial.
Senator Mark and Representative Sabadosa emphasized the importance of the United States' continued support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially with regard to the truth about the genocide and strengthening democratic values. They also emphasized the importance of the work of the Srebrenica Memorial Center and the Institute as key social and academic institutions that, through their work and research, contribute to establishing the truth, fighting against revisionism and strengthening the culture of memory.
