University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, visited the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine
On 12 February 2021, a meeting between University of Sarajevo representatives and the Faculty of Medicine management, as well as representatives of the teaching base - University of Sarajevo Clinical Center, was held at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine. The meeting was attended by: Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Vice Rector for Finance, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, on behalf of the University of Sarajevo, and the acting Dean, Prof. Dr. Mirsad Dorić, Prof. Dr. Enra Suljić, KCUS Section for Science and Teaching Director, Prof. Dr. Svjetlana Radović, Prof. Dr. Azra Metović and Prof. Dr. Emina Kiseljaković, on behalf of the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine.
In the introductory address, Prof. Dr. Mirsad Dorić, acting Dean, thanked for the delegation’s visit and stressed the readiness of the new leadership and the Council to join the current reform processes at the University of Sarajevo which will, among other things, on the issues of teaching, scientific-research work and labor relations of the employees of the Faculty of Medicine and the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.
Rector Škrijelj thanked the representatives of the Faculty of Medicine for the welcome and, on behalf of the University of Sarajevo, expressed full support for the newly elected acting Dean Dorić, with the wish that the management of the Faculty of Medicine be put in a function of constructive resolution of all open issues that have arisen in the past period as soon as possible. In that sense, Rector Škrijelj pointed out that all University of Sarajevo resources are available to the newly elected management and the Faculty of Medicine Council in an effort to organize research functions at this prestigious and best institution in the field of medical education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After this first visit, Rector announced a new working meeting of the extended delegations of the University and the Faculty of Medicine, the aim of which will be to determine the content and dynamics of the operational plan to be eliminated in order to eliminate all identified problems and . In addition, the Faculty of Medicine will be included in the program of joint UNSA Faculties, Academies and Institutes visits, which, at the initiative of Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović, Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, is currently touring at the University of Sarajevo. According to Rector Škrijelj, this will be a unique opportunity to include the newly formed Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth in all activities that will be the subject of a joint agreement between the University and the Faculty of Medicine.
All participants expressed their commitment to the legal and transparent conduct of all processes necessary for the further development of the University of Sarajevo, in the general public interest, which will equally take into account the needs of the academic community, local and regional environment and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
